Choose your professional updates

Who this is for

Use this guide to choose professional updates for yourself. A payment or app connection does not subscribe you. An administrator's allocation does not supply your criteria, timing or destination. You can browse evidence without creating an alert.

Start here

  1. Sign in and open My update preferences. Choose Create my alert.
  2. Under Choose sources, select Medicare/MBS, PBS, AHPRA, NMBA, TGA or Department of Health if wanted. No source is selected for you. Leaving all sources unticked keeps all supported sources eligible; it does not subscribe you. Then choose topics or all available changes, professions, jurisdictions, included or excluded terms and event types. All-changes selection still respects your exclusions. Use general professional terms, not patient information.
  3. The optional description of interests stays on this screen; choose topics or keywords before saving. That prose is not saved as your subscription criteria.
  4. Choose a frequency: matching changes as published, daily, weekly or a chosen interval. Choose the delivery time or days where required, and your timezone. Select quiet hours if wanted. Decide separately whether urgent updates may interrupt the usual timing or quiet hours and whether to receive an empty digest.
  5. Select an offered verified destination. None is selected automatically. If Telegram, Notion or your host is missing, leave it unselected; do not use an unrelated destination to bypass the gap.
  6. Review optional delivery-size and retry-duration choices. PBS changes may be shown individually or grouped by release; grouping does not replace your filters, timing or destination.
  7. Choose Preview matches. Review its notice and the matched public changes. The locally implemented Updates held for review notice distinguishes an unfinished check from an excluded update; no notification is queued until the required checks pass. A no-match message applies only when there are no matches or held items. Read Understand evidence checks for the new statuses and the separate production activation limits.
  8. Choose Save inactive draft to retain choices without activation, or Activate my choices only when you intend to activate the selected criteria and schedule.

The dated daily source-collection record is independent of your selected delivery timing. It does not prove a fresh collection run or delivery to you. Automatic morning delivery into host software remains a separate, unaccepted journey; follow Software and APIs and the applicable host guide for the current connection limits.

Medicare/MBS currently means MBS news. Separate Medicare administration and claiming news from Services Australia is additional coverage, not part of the collected MBS feed. AHPRA news and the NMBA feed do not establish that every National Board's separate notices are collected. See Source coverage.

Browse without subscribing

The new Browse official news links panel on the same page is implemented locally; its normal signed-in production journey is still unverified. After that release is verified, use these controls:

  1. Enter general professional search terms, or leave the search empty to browse. Select a source if wanted.
  2. Press Browse or search. This reads existing records; it does not create an alert, change your preferences or send anything.
  3. Open the official source link. Use Show more news links when further results are offered. Changing the search starts a new result set.

This search matches the official address and Abe's own source labels. It does not search the complete article text or establish that a law or clinical recommendation is current. A source check failure or incomplete archive is a coverage limitation, even if existing links are returned. Follow Understand source coverage.

What success looks like

Saving shows Your inactive draft is saved; activation shows Your choices are active and the list shows the chosen state, schedule and destinations. These confirm saved choices, not external receipt. My delivered updates shows recorded deliveries, their matching items and time; inspect the official source links. Show more matching changes opens further items where offered. An empty inbox or a preview is not delivery evidence.

Read an update in the news feed

An update card shows its source, headline, short summary and original link. The publisher's date, the time Abe detected the update and any effective date are separate. A detection date is not a publication date.

The same card content is used in the Abe inbox and is the intended presentation for an authorised host. The email groups matching updates by source, previews up to five per source and links to the complete inbox. This presentation does not change your matching criteria, chosen delivery size, frequency or destination. If you choose PBS release grouping, the digest counts the release once and the inbox retains its matching records.

PBS summaries describe changes between the stated data releases. A record added in a comparison is not a statement that a medicine is newly approved, suitable for a patient or reimbursable for that person. Read the original record and applicable conditions.

Some existing AHPRA, NMBA, MBS and TGA entries are approved for links and dates only. The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing addition is also restricted to official links with an Abe-written source label while commercial copying permission is unresolved. If article content is unavailable, the card says that the source summary is unavailable. Abe does not invent a summary from a regulator's name. Old retained deliveries may also have no summary; displaying a new card does not rewrite the historical record.

The Department's latest-news feed is a recent selection, not its complete archive. Its unzoned publication dates cannot be treated as precise timestamps; the card therefore says Publication date unavailable rather than using the collection time. The archive import records historical links without generating retrospective alerts. Adding this source does not enrol anyone or extend an existing connected application's permissions.

The service preview shows illustrative packages and layouts for host software and websites. It is a demonstration, not checkout, a live connection or your personal inbox. Prices and commercial packages remain subject to approval.

If it does not work

Check required criteria, frequency, timezone and offered destination before retrying a save. If a destination is missing, wait for verified support for it or use the direct evidence library. For uncertain sending, check the existing delivery record before a resend. Use Troubleshooting.

Stop or change your choices

Use Edit, Pause, Resume my choices or Archive on an existing choice. Restore as inactive draft retains an archived choice without reactivating it. Pausing alerts is separate from app disconnection or paid cancellation; see Manage and cancel.
