Find professional development
Who this is for
The existing professional-development finder is a Beta service for discovering courses. It is distinct from a future professional-development agent. The provider manages registration, fees, places and recognition. Abe lists the courses a provider lists, and each one reminds you to check with that provider. Abe does not award attendance or CPD credit by showing or sharing a course.
Start here
- Open the course finder. Use Search courses with a general professional topic; do not include patient information.
- Choose the visible Profession, Topic, Delivery, Available from and Postcode controls as useful. Advanced filters includes available-until, distance, maximum cost, minimum declared CPD hours, practical or certificate choices, provider, membership and state. These filter catalogue information; they do not establish professional recognition.
- Use Clear all or clear an individual filter to broaden results. On a small screen, apply your filter choices with Apply filters.
- Open a course and inspect Evidence and trust. Read the sources and whether hours are provider-declared and cited or have not been verified. The locally implemented native course-relevance notices are explained in Understand evidence checks; they have not been activated in production. Relevance, event availability, professional recognition and earned credit are separate.
- Check Last checked, Verified through and the evaluation time in the coverage notice. A future catalogue verification date does not make an already-started course current.
- Each course result says Listed on the provider's name, followed by check dates and availability with them before enrolling. That line means Abe is showing what the provider lists, not confirming that places remain. A course the provider marks as closed or withdrawn is hidden from results. The finder lists continuing professional development (CPD) for practising clinicians, such as short courses, webinars, online modules, workshops and conferences; it does not list TAFE or university qualifications.
- View course appears only when availability and a validated provider link allow it. Confirm dates, price, eligibility and remaining places on that provider's site before enrolling. Add to calendar, where offered for a fixed-date course, adds an event; it does not book a place.
The dated 1 October 2026 public API observation demonstrated course search and detail responses. Its samples also included past events and missing validated provider links. That observation is engine evidence, not a renewed source check or accepted host/channel journey. Live source and event repairs remain pending; actionable results may be limited.
Course finder in the updates panel
The Abe Updates panel shows a PD courses tab. For now it shows Coming soon, with a blurred preview, and it has no price or purchase link. To search courses today, use the course finder directly. See Abe on your website.
Is course information updated automatically?
Automatic collection has known gaps as checked on 4 October 2026. Some scheduled jobs have reprocessed older provider captures, while other sources have failed. A recent processing date does not prove the provider's listing was checked again. Confirm dates, prices, eligibility and places on the original provider page before enrolling.
The current code prevents an expired capture from receiving a new verification date and prevents a collection job from completing before its catalogue update succeeds. Maintenance code is included in the deployed application. End-to-end provider refreshes, cancellation checks and automatic failure monitoring still need operational verification. Abe does not currently promise that every course is kept up to date automatically.
Review a collection failure (Abe maintenance operators)
This control is for appointed Abe maintenance operators. Being a clinic administrator or paying subscriber does not provide maintenance access. The control is included in the current application code and has passed local browser and database tests. A successful signed-in operator acknowledgement against the production database has not been demonstrated.
- Open professional-development administration and find Source maintenance.
- Inspect the affected source's Last verified, Next due and Current condition. An unavailable date is not a recent source check.
- If you have review access, choose Acknowledge as seen to record that you have seen this particular incident. This does not resolve the incident, refresh the source or change its cooldown.
- If the acknowledgement is unconfirmed, deliberately retry the same control. It keeps the same request and checks the original acknowledgement. If the incident changed, reload and review the current incident before taking another action.
- Use Review source and recovery action for the separate recovery work. A Seen date records acknowledgement only; it is not proof that collection has recovered.
Reviewing a collection failure does not change your alert choices, notifications, course booking or CPD credit.
What success looks like
You find a relevant course with evidence you can inspect, then confirm current arrangements with its provider. Provider link unavailable is an honest limitation, not a booking button. Use Share a provider link for review if you can supply a public provider page. Any Save to host notes or Add host diary draft option appears only in a host that actually offers it; neither records enrolment or CPD recognition.
If it does not work
Use Try again after a search error. For no results, clear delivery, date or distance restrictions rather than concluding no courses exist nationally. Check Source coverage. If a provider link is missing, use the public intake link or Troubleshooting; do not rely on a guessed URL. Check employer and professional-body acceptance yourself.
Stop or change your choices
Browsing does not subscribe you. Stop by leaving the finder; manage separately chosen Alerts or paid access independently. Any provider booking or cancellation follows that provider's own process.
