Search rules and professional standards

Who this is for

Use the library to find legislation, registration requirements and professional standards within the information currently available to your account. The widget names this function Rules and standards. It does not provide clinical evidence updates or patient-treatment advice, and it does not guarantee legal correctness. A missing result or a cited summary does not establish full coverage of your profession.

Start here

  1. Sign in and open Evidence library. The current route is /console/library; topic pages sit beneath it.
  2. Enter public topic terms or a general professional question. Choose Search to find sources or Explain with sources for a cited explanation.
  3. Open the source links. Check jurisdiction, effective dates, version and currentness before relying on legislation or guidance. Read any coverage gap alongside the result.
  4. Use Show more for further results, or open a listed topic. There are no visible profession or jurisdiction filter controls in this library screen; do not look for the course finder's filters here.
  5. A topic's Follow changes in this topic link opens your update choices and does not activate an alert. Review and save your own criteria in Alerts.

Professional relevance terms do not establish verified profession applicability. Missing profession mapping and source restrictions can make a requested scope unavailable. A source may permit headlines or links without allowing full text or other uses. Read Source coverage rather than treating an answer as universal authority.

What success looks like

A search gives inspectable sources or an explicit gap. An explanation shows its interpreted scope and sources; verify they match the question you asked. A cited answer remains a summary to review against current official material. It does not authorise clinical care, prescribing, legal compliance or use of restricted source material.

If it does not work

For an empty result, broaden the public topic and check the displayed gap. Stop if the jurisdiction or version is wrong. If a host does not offer accepted evidence access, use the direct Abe library where your current sign-in permits it; host integration is not inferred from the direct result. If access is unavailable, check app permission and funding separately through Troubleshooting.

Stop or change your choices

Browsing and explanations do not create subscriptions. Leave the library when finished, pause independently selected alerts, or disconnect the relevant app through Manage and cancel. Do not paste patient notes into a follow-up question or a support message.
